Moving and Handling Courses
We offer a variety of manual handling courses ranging from basic handling of people through to hoisting. All courses cover legal responsibilities, risk assessment, principles of good manual handling and practical exercises. We also offer an exam at the end of each course to ensure that your staff are fully aware of the legislation and their responsibilities.
Manual Handling of People
A short course which is required for anyone involved in the moving and handling of people, includes basic assisting techniques.
Legislation demands that everyone who is required to handle loads of any kind during their working day is appropriately trained in the technique and theory of manual handling.
ScotNursing offers refresher courses on Moving and Handling and Occupational Health and Safety courses to all staff. The course content includes:
- European Legislation, RCN Guidelines, Risk Assessment
- Efficient and Effective Handling Techniques
As well as offering this course to ScotNursing personnel it can be taught on site to nursing and residential home staff.
Manual Handling including slide sheeting and hoisting.
This course is for staff who are involved in caring for people who have more complex manual handling needs.
This course covers the same topics as the manual handling of people, along with practical sessions on hoisting and slide sheeting and also the necessary checks that are required by staff to ensure the safety of themselves and their patients.
Load Management
This is a course designed for anyone who has to do any form of lifting within their workplace, whether this be in an office setting or a factory we can cater to individual requirements. Included in this course is all legislation, safer practices and a practical session tailor made to your work environment.
